Fair Study

A toolkit to help universities develop fair practice for students with criminal records.

This digital toolkit offers guidance for higher education providers who want to develop fair approaches for applicants and students with criminal records.

We’re working to encourage more universities to offer fair admissions and recognise students with criminal records as a widening participation group.

Each chapter of this toolkit relates to a different area of the student experience. Navigate through the toolkit using the chapters on the left hand side of the page. You can use each chapter as a standalone resource, or explore the whole toolkit to get an overarching view of how Fair Study can be implemented. At the end of the Toolkit is a checklist. This provides a list of indicators of good practice that you can assess your institution with, or use as a guide for next steps.

The Unlock team have further resources available for providers who would like to explore particular areas in more depth. Please do get in touch; our team are happy to answer specific questions or have an informal chat about the topics covered on this site.
