Contact the Helpline
The most important thing to remember is that we’re here to help!
There are various ways that you can get in touch with us:
We ask that individuals contact us directly if possible. If a family member or an organisation working with you contacts us on your behalf, we will normally ask to speak to you.

Looking for help with your research project?
Unlock is a small charity with limited staffing resources.
We are keen to encourage, promote and support research into the long-term impact of criminal records on people’s lives. We receive requests from researchers and students on a regular basis and sadly we do not have the capacity to support all of them. Unfortunately, we are unable to help degree or masters students with individual research.
PhD-level research, proposals from professional academics, think tanks and other research bodies will be considered on a case-by-case basis. You can get in touch with us at research@unlock.org.uk. Provide us with clear detail on how the research findings might progress Unlock’s support, policy or campaign work, and also explain the stage the research is at in terms of permissions and ethical approval. Outline your timetable, how you hope Unlock can support the work, whether our participation and time will be funded and how you will support and remunerate participants.
Where we are unable to provide direct support, we have designed and built our website with researchers and students in mind and we’re confident that you will be able to find significant amounts of useful information that should support your work. And we’re always keen to see outputs of research and see how we can promote the dissemination of the findings.
